World Architecture Festival announces global building awards

by Brianna Crandall — October 10, 2014—After three days of the World Architecture Festival in Singapore, the festival’s “super-jury” has awarded the prestigious World Building of the Year award, sponsored by UOL Group Ltd., as well as three other major awards and two inaugural prizes. Award winners from around the world were also announced each day of the event in 28 categories.

The WAF 2014 top award winners are:

  • World Building of the Year: The Chapel, Vietnam, designed by a21studio
  • Future Project of the Year: Art Gallery of Greater Victoria, Canada, designed by 5468796 Architecture + number TEN architectural
  • Landscape Project of the Year: National Arboretum Canberra, Australia, designed by Taylor Cullity Lethlean and Tonkin Zulaikha Greer
  • Small Project of the Year: The Pinch, China, designed by Olivier Ottevaere and John Lin / The University of Hong Kong
  • Colour Prize (new for 2014): Departments of Law and Central Administration, Vienna University of Economics and Business, Austria, designed by Cook Robotham Architectural Bureau
  • Wood Excellence Prize (new for 2014): Alex Monroe Studio, Snowfields, UK, designed by DSDH

The World Architecture Festival (WAF) is billed as the largest annual festival and live awards program for the global architecture community. It took place in Singapore October 1-3.
