Free ISSA-TV educational videos cover training, sustainability

by Brianna Crandall — May 6, 2016 — Worldwide cleaning industry association ISSA has added three new titles in recent weeks to its collection of free ISSA-TV Educational Quick Clip cleaning industry-related videos. The new educational videos cover in-house training, using sustainability to improve the bottom line, and jansan distribution.

ISSA-TV: Make the Most of Your Training Dollars

Last week’s free Educational Quick Clip notes that a well-trained employee can mean the difference between a business that is surviving and one that is thriving. So the question is how to make the most of training dollars when bringing education in-house. In the April 29 video, training expert Mickey Crowe offers tips on finding the right trainers for a business and maximizing their impact.

Mickey Crowe has been involved in the cleaning industry for more than 35 years and is a recognized speaker, consultant, and trainer.  He teaches Train the Trainer workshops for the Cleaning Management Institute (CMI) and is a CMI-certified master trainer.

ISSA-TV: Better Your Bottom Line with Sustainability

The free educational video for the week of April 13 points out that about 75 percent of companies on the Standard & Poor’s 500 Index reported on their sustainability efforts in 2015. But why is sustainability such a big deal, and how does it affect professional cleaning companies? In the ISSA-TV Clip, green cleaning consultant Steve Ashkin explains the difference between sustainability and green products and services, as well as how embracing the concept of sustainability can improve a business’s bottom line.

Steve Ashkin has been working in the cleaning industry since 1981. He is president of The Ashkin Group, a consulting firm specializing in greening the cleaning process, as well as executive director of the Green Cleaning Network. Ashkin is the co-author of The Business of Green Cleaning and Green Cleaning for Dummies, and has extensive experience working throughout the entire supply chain.

ISSA-TV: Winning the Distribution Game in the Era of Online Retail

The Educational Quick Clip for the week of March 24 notes that some cleaning-industry distributors see Amazon.com and other online retailers as a threat to their existence. Others view them as simply another channel to leverage. In the free video, business consultant Mike Marks takes a look at how online players like Amazon are impacting the role of jansan distributors, and reveals what services customers do — and do not — value.

Mike Marks is managing partner of the Indian River Consulting Group, which he co-founded after working in distribution management for more than 20 years. He has written extensively and is frequently quoted on many industry issues. Marks is the co-author of What’s Your Plan?
