by Shane Henson — March 25, 2013—Contract furniture specialist Arcadia recently launched a comprehensive and fluid collection of modular, lounge, and bench seating destined to be a long-running hit among its already versatile collection of furniture for office, healthcare, educational and other non-residential spaces.
Through Ovate, the company seeks to offer a striking architectural profile, incomparable comfort, and a multitude of options for functional and flexible seating solutions. Its elegant oval-shaped back cushion, for which it is named, nestles into a plush seat, while a dramatic upholstered frame cradles both elements to create the group’s signature aesthetic. Upholstery choices determine whether the collection leans modern or transitional, enabling adaptability to suit a variety of aesthetic preferences, says Arcadia. And, completing the overall look is the warmth and sophistication of a wood platform base, giving Ovate a classic, timeless appeal.
Armless lounge chairs, love seats and sofas stand alone for traditional lounge seating requirements or beautifully configure with straight or corner tables and benches to deliver endless modular potential. Tables expressly for modular set-ups are available in 12″ and 18″ widths and 16″ and 24″ heights, as well as a quarter-round option. The 24″ high, taller table can double as an armrest or impromptu work surface, while the 16″ low tables are available with an optional 360-degree rotating tablet or stationary table-ette. For added purpose, all tables are available with a self-contained power port unit with flip-up cover and two outlets. Each unit stands on its own for installation ease and can be reconfigured instantly; or for more permanent connections, an optional ganging connector is offered.
Arcadia says that multifaceted Ovate benches in square, rectangle, round and oval shapes provide practical seating options for large spaces, companion pieces to lounge settings, and creative solutions for niches and alcoves of any size. Benches are available in single, two- and three-seat straight versions as well as a quarter-round option, most of which can also be specified in modular configurations with lounge seats and tables. Select models are offered with arm panels, backrest or a center table option to further enhance the collection’s range and flexibility. As the counterpart to the signature upholstered frame prevalent on armless lounge units as well as benches with a backrest, all other benches feature an upholstered trim detail above the wood platform base, which can be accentuated with contrasting or coordinating fabrics.
Companion to all Ovate seating styles, but certainly not exclusive, are its accompanying occasional tables presented in round, square, rectangular and oval shapes, all in a variety of sizes. Brimming with functionality and transitional design features, tables share the same wood platform base as lounge and bench styles, and are available in veneer, laminate and Corian finishes, Arcadia notes.
