by Jbs020710 j3 — February 10, 2010—The American Society for Healthcare Environmental Services (ASHES) is offering a new online course, “Infection Control for Non-clinical Healthcare Workers,” which provides 10 continuing professional education hours.
The course is intended for non-clinical directors and managers in healthcare facilities interested in expanding their infection control and prevention knowledge; non-clinical supervisors aspiring to manager or director level responsibilities; directors, managers and supervisors in the healthcare housekeeping, environmental services, patient transport and engineering fields; and other non-clinical employees of healthcare facilities.
The content of this program covers a wide spectrum of infection control topics, from a brief introduction to the microbiology of major organisms like Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus(MRSA) and Clostridium difficile to transmission and prevention. The course also covers content on disease outbreaks, precautions, personal protective equipment (PPE), guidance documents from the CDC, and OSHA standards for blood borne pathogens (BBP).
