by Rebecca Walker — April 3, 2009—California-based design software firm Autodesk Inc. has opened a local headquarters building in Waltham, Massachusetts.
The 65,000-square-foot facility, designed by local architecture firm KlingStubbins and Cambridge and built by local construction firm Tocci Building Cos. of Woburn, has been constructed with the intention of seeking Platinum LEED Certification standards from the U.S. Green Building Council’s LEED for Core and Shell and LEED for Commercial Interior programs.
The new facility will be the East Coast headquarters for the $2 billion developer of computer-aided design software and home to its architecture, engineering and construction division. The building is now home to 200 employees and has the capacity to hold 400, says the company.
Construction of the office involved using Autodesk’s building information modeling software, which was able to predict the building’s energy performance and enable sustainable design and construction, officials said.
Autodesk makes the industry standard design software AutoCAD. For more on the company, see its Web site.
