by Shane Henson — August 24, 2011—A cutting-edge sustainable design and construction model park based on the BRE Group’s model “Innovation Park” in Watford, United Kingdom is expected to transform the construction industry in Brazil through innovation and applied research. Based in the capital Brasilia, the park will be a catalyst for the modernization of Brazil’s construction sector, which is currently experiencing a period of unprecedented growth.
The park will be built on the grounds of the University of Brasilia. It will include up to 10 demonstration homes and buildings showcasing the latest low-carbon designs, materials and technologies along with a building with office spaces, conference center, incubator and visitor center. It will demonstrate new methods of construction and technologies that are innovative, affordable, fast to build with, and sustainable.
Facilities managers and other building professionals working for companies in all industries may get ideas on how to reduce costs while promoting sustainability through learning more about Innovation Park, particularly those working for companies planning to construct new buildings in the near future.
The BRE Group, a company providing a range of consultancy, testing, certification, commissioned research and training services covering all aspects of the built environment and associated industries, will be involved in the concept design, delivery, and post-construction activities for the park, including research, development and innovation.
