by Shane Henson — September 30, 2013—Global property advisor CBRE has been appointed to manage The Cube, Birmingham, England’s landmark building, by EPISO3, a fund managed by Tristan Capital Partners.

Created by Birmingham-born architect Ken Shuttleworth of MAKE architects, the 500,000-square-foot, 23-story architecturally stunning building gained much attention when it was completed in 2010. Shuttleworth sought to marry the city’s industrial heritage with a vision for the future in its now famous “jewelry-box” design. The Cube is one of a host of iconic buildings in Shuttleworth’s portfolio, which also includes Hong Kong’s Chek Lap Kok airport and the Commerzbank Tower in Frankfurt, notes CBRE.

Housed within The Cube is a mix of prime office, retail, and restaurant spaces; aspirational apartments; a boutique hotel; luxury spa facilities; and the U.K.’s largest automated car park. CBRE will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the building and will oversee all service procurement. Moreover, it will work with the landlord to enhance the customer experience at The Cube, ensuring occupiers across the office, retail, and residential elements of the project enjoy a level of service and care befitting one of the U.K.’s most innovative mixed-use developments.

According to CBRE, the building will be the latest addition to its “Premier Properties” program, a custom asset management service tailored for buildings deemed exceptional in terms of size, design and quality. The Premier Properties portfolio, which spans 215 million square feet worldwide, includes the Shanghai Tower, the Iberdrola Tower in Bilbao, and The Gherkin in the City of London.
