CIBSE welcomes new industry diplomas

by jbs060109 i3 — June 8, 2009—The U.K.’s Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) welcomes the introduction of the new Advanced Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment, and the Advanced Diploma in Engineering, which are being developed by a Diploma Development Partnership led by six Sector Skills Councils (SSCs) that include employers, higher education, schools and colleges, and awarding-body representatives.

Building services engineering is a fast developing area which presents a wide range of career opportunities at all levels. CIBSE believes the Diploma will provide a new and exciting way of learning as well as placing the built environment, and its related issues of sustainability and climate change, at the heart of mainstream education in the U.K.

CIBSE welcomes the introduction of these new qualifications, which offer both practical and theoretical learning in real-life contexts. Students will be equipped with both necessary general and sector-specific learning to progress on to an apprenticeship, to employment, or to college or university.

Further information on the diplomas can be found online.
