May 29, 2002—EDS has launched version 12 of its Solid Edge computer-aided design (CAD) software used globally by manufacturing companies developing a wide range of industrial, commercial, and consumer products. According to EDS, Solid Edge’ s unique “Design-with-Insight” approach gives designers the ability to manage crucial data contained in the larger and more complex 3D models they are currently generating.
CAD innovations delivered in Solid Edge V12 include Insight.NET Web services for collaboration and communication, and a new Stream/XP user interface. V12 adds process-driven capabilities for wiring-harness design; significantly faster drawing creation; and extended, unique associative interoperability with other EDS products such as I-deas and Unigraphics NX.
