GSH Group to provide its EnergyPlus service for Manhattan property

by Shane Henson — December 19, 2012—GSH Group Inc., a multinational facilities and energy management provider throughout the United States and Europe, won a seven-year contract to provide its EnergyPlus energy conservation services to a 100,000-square-foot office and retail building in New York City that is managed by Hilson Management Corporation.

As part of GSH’s EnergyPlus program, the company says it conducted a thorough study of the facility, including a site survey and utility consumption analysis. GSH determined several energy conservation measures it will carry out with its in-house mechanical team, mainly the installation of a Trend building automation system to monitor and control the mechanical systems. GSH’s energy management team will provide continuous energy monitoring and adjustments to ensure optimal efficiency throughout the lifetime of the contract. GSH predicts a reduction of 143 tons of carbon emissions each year with its EnergyPlus program.

The facility, located at 385 Fifth Avenue, is a premier accessories showroom building, housing such industry leaders as Timex Watches, Carolee, and Roman-Sunstone Jewelry. The building was constructed in 1929 and features high ceilings and an elegant art deco-styled lobby.
