by Shane Henson — March 19, 2012—iOffice, a provider of integrated workplace management system (IWMS) and facility solutions, has been awarded a multiyear contract with the University of Michigan’s information technology (IT) department. iOffice will implement two facilities management solutions for the university: a space and move management system, and a maintenance and asset tracking and ticketing system.
iOffice was chosen as the university’s IWMS provider after it successfully implemented the technology within the University Medical Center’s IT department.
According to the Houston-based company, its innovative software solution will be replacing a manual spreadsheet and email-based process, which many institutions like the University of Michigan rely on but could improve their efficiency and save time through switching to more sophisticated software.
“Implementing our software at the University of Michigan will centralize floor plans online and provide the school with a real-time, accurate understanding of its space utilization,” says iOffice executive vice president Elizabeth Dukes. “It will also provide an automated method for receiving and managing facility and maintenance requests, as well as help the school track its key assets. All of this will streamline processes and help the university more efficiently run its facilities.”
The awarded contract also encompasses establishing a Web-service data interface for updated information, converting several thousand square feet of facilities and human resources (HR) data into the iOffice system and portal. Finally, it includes a three-year support component with application upgrades.
