by Brianna Crandall — May 27, 2016 — The in-house digital development team at the U.K. division of global facilities services provider ISS recently created a custom app designed to measure CO2 equivalent (CO2e) for refrigerant gas in refrigeration and air-conditioning units.
The “ISS CO2 e App” automatically calculates the CO2 Tonne equivalent for the relevant refrigerant gas (F-Gas) used in refrigeration and air-conditioning systems. It allows ISS U.K. technicians to update equipment data in three simple steps without having to make time-consuming calculations.
Following new E.U. regulations on gas emissions in 2014, maintenance and engineering services must calculate the amount of CO2e in refrigeration and air conditioning plants to ensure compliance with these regulations.
ISS U.K. technicians are able to update system F-Gas compliance records for thousands of assets in a faster, yet controlled and standardized manner. This ensures that data is always accurate and in the required format, which allows technicians to improve the efficiency of each appointment, says ISS.
The new app received an award from The Institute of Refrigeration Ireland at the group’s annual awards reception in Dublin in April.
