by Brianna Crandall — March 27, 2013—The JW Marriott luxury brand recently celebrated the opening of its landmark hotel in the Middle East and second Marquis worldwide—the JW Marriott Marquis Dubai, newly dubbed the “World’s Tallest Hotel.” The gala opening celebration hosted more than 1,200 VIP guests and featured performances by British singer/songwriter Leona Lewis, French live artist Jean Pierre Blanchard, and Croatian classical pop sensation 2CELLOS, along with fire dancers, stilt walkers and international fare from six of the hotel’s signature restaurants.
Crowned the “World’s Tallest Hotel” by Guinness World Records in December, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai is billed as Dubai’s first world-class convention and business destination hotel, filling a long-identified gap in the market where groups, meetings and conventions of up to 1,000 people can meet, sleep and dine under one roof, in one location. At a height of 355 meters from ground level to the top of its mast, the luxury hotel is only 26 meters short of the Empire State Building in New York. The complex comprises two 77-floor twin towers, each with 804 rooms and an “enticing” array of 14 restaurants, bars and lounges.
Designed by Ashok Korgaonkar of Archgroup Consultants, with Rupprecht Queitsch as General Manager, the iconic hotel in the heart of Business Bay opened its first tower to guests in November. As of the Grand Opening, all nine restaurants, five bars and lounges, as well as the Saray Spa and Health Club, were open for business. Its second tower is expected to open by late 2014.
When fully open, the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai will cater to a myriad of tastes, while simultaneously providing cutting-edge business facilities and more than 8,000 square meters of indoor and outdoor event space, including two ballrooms and 24 flexible meeting rooms. Convention rooms feature state-of-the-art audiovisual technology and Wi-Fi, and the on-site business center and Concierge Level extend comprehensive secretarial services. An “exquisite and succulent” event menu as well as expert catering, intuitive service and a certified events team guarantee a memorable occasion, says the hotel.
