by Rebecca Walker — April 2, 2010—KBR announced that its Building Group has been awarded a $9.5 million contract to provide renovations to the Carlsbad Medical Center in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Construction is underway, with completion slated for December 2010.
The 28,000-square-foot renovation will include upgrades to the Operating Room suites, Women’s Services (Labor and Delivery), the entrance lobby in addition to other site utilities and improvements, says the company. As part of the contract, a new 4,000-square-foot surgery suite addition will also be constructed at the facility.
KBR’s Building Group recently completed a similar renovation and addition project in New Mexico for the Eastern New Mexico Medical Center in Roswell, New Mexico.
“Our highly experienced team, coupled with our vast portfolio in healthcare facility renovation, will provide the necessary skills and expertise to successfully complete this project,” said Ed Smith, Vice President, KBR and leader of healthcare construction efforts for the Building Group.
