by Shane Henson — October 26, 2012—Office furniture designer and manufacturer Kimball Office, a division of Kimball International, has made enhancements, including the addition of bariatric styles, to popular products within its healthcare seating collection and casegoods lines.

According to the company, new features to the Beo, Collage and Event seating solutions provide users, designers and facilities managers with increased flexibility, durability and easy maintenance. In addition, new options available in Definition, the company’s casegoods line, increase functionality between meeting, individual workspace, and different organizational needs desired by a multigenerational workforce.

Beo, the company’s, guest and lounge seating line, offers five new enhancements. A clean-out feature helps organizations easily wipe seating surfaces to remove debris, and an extra three inches can be added to the chair’s width in order to accommodate individuals up to 350 pounds. Tablet surfaces are available in wood or laminate, and a specialized grommet can be installed in one or both arms to allow users to transfer and lock the tablet surface for increased functionality. Beo’s arms, backs and seats can be upholstered separately in order to delineate space through color and also match the design aesthetic. Finally, an optional quiet caster promotes a peaceful recovery and work environment.

Collage, designed for private offices, public spaces and meeting rooms, offers a versatile, stylish, wood-framed guest seating option. A new bariatric bench solution increases the line’s versatility without compromising its design, which is already available with or without arms, as two-person benches, and with a slat or upholstered back.

Event, suited for meeting and training rooms, offers a new bariatric bench available with the line’s standard options such as: mobile or static legs, with or without arms, and a variety of designs for the back shape. The bariatric bench supports a greater range of users and brings increased flexibility to commonly used spaces.

Kimballs Definition casegoods line now features optional angled extension tops, other extensions, and modesty panels for cable management.

Definition, which the company says has earned a reputation as an adaptable, wood office solution, now has progressive and contemporary enhancements to complement the line’s existing classic style. A new angled extension top creates a cockpit and can host up to three guests for impromptu meetings. Additional extension tops, legs and panels are available to build flexible workwalls. Definition also supports wired technology with grommets that sit flush with the surface and hinged modesty panels that fold down to manage and hide cabling. Other new features include partial-height modesty panels, the choice of classic U-leg, open-frame leg or veneer panels for extensions. The line’s finished backs allow pieces to stand alone or integrate with systems products such as Kimball Office’s Traxx and Tiles wall system, and Cetra and Xsite panel systems.
