by Shane Henson — June 3, 2013—LG Electronics’ USA Commercial Air Conditioning business recently brought to market a new series of heat pump duct-free split heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) products, the LG Mega Inverter line, combining technological advances with a sleek, modern style to provide an elegant HVAC solution.
According to the company, the LG Mega Inverter represents the next step forward for inverters, providing the ultra-quiet operation and high energy efficiency that customers have come to expect from LG’s duct-free products, at an attractive price point.
Available in 9,000, 12,000, 18,000 and 24,000 Btu/h capacities, the LG Mega Inverter is ideal for applications demanding higher efficiencies, including a wide range of light commercial settings. The LG Mega Inverter has achieved Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratings (SEER) from 16.3 (9,000 Btu/h model) up to 17.0 (24,000 Btu/h), providing a high-powered, high-efficiency solution, says LG Electronics.
Driving this efficiency are LG innovations at the core of the Mega Inverter, including the inverter-driven brushless DC (BLDC) Compressor. With the power of a neodymium magnet, the compressor offers improved efficiency over a traditional AC inverter, effectively minimizing oil circulation with an oil-separator system, increasing motor efficiency and reducing compression loss.
This improvement over traditional AC inverters maintains the variable speed inherent to an inverter, allowing the LG Mega Inverter to save energy by intelligently running at the necessary speed to maintain a comfortable climate in the space, instead of switching on and off constantly, wasting energy and producing undesirable temperature swings, LG Electronics explains.
