by Brianna Crandall — December 25, 2019 — Lynxspring, a developer and provider of open, software and hardware platforms for smart buildings and device-to-enterprise integration and applications, recently announced the availability of a new, fully programmable edge controller, the JENEsys Edge 534 Monnit Controller, for direct connectivity to Monnit wireless sensors.
Part of Lynxspring’s portfolio of Edge Enabled products, the JENEsys Edge 534 Monnit Controller with 34 I/Os offers the full Niagara Framework stack and a built-in 900 MHz wireless transceiver, creating a quality edge device for connecting to Monnit sensors and deploying a connected sensor network within a building environment. Wireless sensors amplify the benefits of smart building solutions because of the ease of connectivity, and they present a strong business case for wireless systems versus wired systems due to labor and wiring costs, points out Lynxspring.
This reportedly first-of-its-kind, multipurpose controller, combines the full features and functionality of Niagara 4, IP, wireless sensor connectivity, web serving capability, data exchange and integrated control with an on-board Monnit radio that connects to Monnit sensors therefore eliminating the need for additional Monnit gateways.
The JENEsys Edge 534 Monnit Controller works with Niagara ProBuilder/Niagara Workbench software, standard Niagara 4 programming tools and Fox Protocol, and easily connects to a Niagara Supervisor, an Enterprise and the Cloud.
Marc Petock, chief marketing and communications officer at Lynxspring, remarked:
Wireless sensors can be configured to measure a variety of variables and play a crucial role in facilitating intelligent building solutions that provide actionable insight. The versatility and functionality of the JENEsys Edge 534 Monnit Controller, combined with Monnit’s leading wireless sensor technology and the industry’s most widely deployed building operating platform, makes this a powerful solution for system integrators, building operators and OEMs. We are providing customers a one-platform IP architecture for real-time command, control and connectivity to a Monnit sensor network, thus reducing setup and management costs and lessening system complexity across an entire building.
This first release of the JENEsys Edge 534 Monnit Controller supports nine sensor types, including:
- Button press sensors
- Dry contact sensors
- Humidity sensors
- PIR motion sensors
- 1-input pulse counters
- Temperature sensors
- Tilt sensors
- Commercial ultrasonic ranger
- Water detection sensors
Additional sensors types are planned for release in the coming months.
The JENEsys Edge 534 Monnit Controller is part of a family of modular and open hardware, bridges and gateways built on the company’s Onyxx hardware platform, specifically designed to support edge-to-enterprise and Cloud applications across multiple market segments. This powerful unit meets the building industry’s requirements to connect, manage and control data closer to where the data actually is, whether it be within a single facility or across a multi-site environment or at the equipment level. The versatility, functionality and broad footprint of the JENEsys Edge 534 Monnit Controller, using the industry’s most widely deployed platform, makes this a powerful, cost-effective and economical solution.
