by Shane Henson — November 7, 2012—Ash trays have never been known as the prettiest building product, but they can be stylish, as evidenced by Vesuvio, the Magnuson Group’s recently released smokers’ ash receptacle.

Designed by Luis Jaramillo, Vesuvio is readily distinguishable from all other ground- or wall-mounted ash receptacles with an architectural, curved-edge sculptural appearance. It provides obvious high function with lasting design continuity, says the Magnuson Group. Ashes, cigarettes, cigarillos, cigar butts, and pipe tobacco are self-extinguished once deposited in Vesuvio. The smoking products are then stored inside a locking, integral, and removable full-length column with sliding door to provide easy access for emptying and ongoing maintenance.

The sleek and modern Vesuvio was designed for use outside of upscale 24-hour commercial, institutional, industrial buildings, entertainment, hospitality and recreational facilities. These include casinos, cinemas, playhouses, dinner theatres, retail stores, trade schools, colleges, universities, dorm-room buildings, and airport, bus, and train transportation terminals.

Vesuvio is available in three styles: freestanding, fixed to the ground, or mounted to the wall, and comes in four finish options: black or silver powdercoat, black powdercoat with polished-chrome top, or all polished chrome. Vesuvio is 100% post-use recyclable, the company adds.
