by AF 0125g3 — January 28, 2009—FORTNE 500 announced the Top 100 companies in the 100 Best Companies to Work For.

Milliken & Company, Herman Miller, Inc. and CH2M HILL were among the 100 that were selected from a survey that solicited information from organizations and their employees about credibility of management, job satisfaction, camaraderie, recruiting, and employee services.

Milliken & Company ranked 64 in the 12th annual Best Company to Work For list, marking the fifth time it was recognized. It also ranked 17 on FORTUNE’s Best Medium-Sized Company list. Milliken is a major manufacture of contract and automotive textiles and chemicals.

For the second consecutive year, Herman Miller was recognized among the 100 Best Companies to Work For in America. Herman Miller, ranked 89th, is one of three Michigan-based companies to appear on the list and the only representative from the office furniture industry.

CH2M HILL, a global full-service engineering construction and operations firm, has been ranked 54 on the 100 Best Companies to Work For in America. This represents the third time the company appeared on the list.

FORTUNE’s annual ranking is determined through an extensive nomination and application process. Two-thirds of the score is based on how randomly selected employees respond to a 57-question survey created by the Great Place to Work Institute. The other third is based on the company’s responses to the Institute’s Cultural Audit.

The 100 Best Companies to Work For report and the entire list of companies is in FORTUNE’S February 2 issue, available on newsstands on January 26, and online at www.fortune.com.
