by Ann Withanee — June 22, 2012—The Best of NeoCon product competition netted four major awards in honor of products from Davis Furniture—two Gold and two Silver—all announced during NeoCon 2012 at The Merchandise Mart in Chicago. The Gold Awards honored the Perch Stool Series and the Tre Stool Series guest seating. Silver Awards went to Fina and C.R. Lounge. All are specialized seating for many categories of facilities, from office to hospitality.

The Perch Stool Series, muses Davis Furniture, proves that sometimes the simplest ideas are the most brilliant. Designed by the Davis Design team, Perch adds colorful additional seating without taking up precious space, and what appears to be a square-shaped trunk is angled ever-so-slightly along each plane for enhanced visual interest.

Perch’s seat, padded for comfort, forms a downward-sloping diamond shape, allowing users to rest in a more natural, relaxed position. Perch can be fully upholstered in any fabric or leather and offers an easy way to add bold “pops” of color and personalization to workspaces. Although its base is weighted for stability, Perch remains light enough to be picked up or moved around with ease.

Small and stout, yet angular and artful, Perch is a comfortable seating option for quick, impromptu meetings where square footage is scarce. It is as functional in collaborative areas as it is in smaller workstations and cubicles. When the conversation ends, Perch moves easily under the counter, into the corner, or along the wall, out of the way until it is needed again.

The Tre Stool Series, designed by Jehs+Laub, excels in its imaginative design using molded plywood technology. The visually arresting sculpted stool features three separate pieces that “rise dramatically from the ground to form a magnificent triumvirate.”

For quick, impromptu meetings, Perch is light enough to be picked up and moved about with ease.

This Gold Award-winning design is constructed from paper-thin layers of beech, pressed tightly together to form a solid but slender core. Veneer options are walnut and oak along with white laminate, and black, red or white painted options. An optional seat pad adds visual interest with a stitching detail that mimics the lines of confluence.

The gently curved legs feature a slight arc near the base that contributes to both the grace and stability of the piece. This arc also enables the footrest, which is available in chrome or powder-coat, to be joined with a clean connection. Plastic or felt glides allow for minimum impact no matter the flooring surface.

Tre is offered in bar, counter, and lounge heights with a proportional base on each. This array of height options takes Tre into a variety of areas and occasions, from casual, collaborative workspaces and libraries to corporate cafés and hospitality settings.
