by Brianna Crandall — June 17, 2016 — Office furniture designer and manufacturer Inscape, which has been initiating change in workspace design for over 125 years, took home Gold and Silver awards this week from the prestigious Best of NeoCon Competition [see FMLink article] at the NeoCon 2016 contract furnishings show in Chicago June 13-15.
Designed by award-winning figure3design studio, Inscape’s newly designed Chicago showroom (see video) showcased spaces for the way people work today. Creative applications of the company’s diverse walls and furniture products addressed the need for concentration, contemplation, communication and collaboration — requirements for today’s diverse workplace.
Inscape introduced two new products, enhancements to its systems products, and its new Focus Fabrics program at NeoCon. The company also recently announced its BIFMA level 3 certification.
Longo
Inscape’s Longo modular lounge system was awarded Gold in the Lounge Furniture Collections category. Longo is a versatile and comprehensive modular system that combines seating, tables and storage elements to create inviting meeting and working environments that address the diverse needs of today’s workspaces. Privacy (sound-absorbing) panels enable enclosed-to-open layouts that are required in today’s modern office where interaction and collaboration are critical. Longo offers a sophisticated approach to casual spaces in the office, whether a destination is being created for contemplation or collaboration.
TurnAround
Inscape’s TurnAround ergonomic seating won a Silver award in the Seating: Ergonomic Desk/Task category. Available in a chair or stool, TurnAround creates a dynamic sitting experience, encourages posture movement, and fosters lively interaction among colleagues. Thanks to the ergonomic design, any seat position, whether at high desks or low tables, is perceived as ideal – without having to adjust anything, says Inscape.
Badminton
The Badminton chair is guest seating designed for the modern office environment, addressing the seating needs for both private and informal meetings. Badminton’s dynamic design supports an active posture. An armless design with a back at 180 degrees brings in light while providing visual and acoustic privacy, with an impressive throne-like size and shape. Privacy, comfort and swivel capability support visual flexibility in open-plan environments. Badminton creates inviting waiting and reception areas and delivers a welcoming first impression in corporate spaces.
Domain
The enhanced Domain furniture system is a highly flexibly modular spine-based platform that supports dynamic meeting spaces, in addition to individual focused work. It delivers convenient access to power and data and can be easily reconfigured. New standing height option, finishes, integrated technology and flexible seating support a range of healthy and interactive meeting spaces.
Inscape Bench
Inscape introduced functional changes to the Inscape Bench to deliver integrated flexibility and allow the freedom to convert from static to kinetic workspaces. Height adjustability is interchangeable and supports individual personal well-being. Inscape Bench now has the added capability to convert from focus to collaborative to social spaces to meet the needs of today’s work styles.
Focus Fabric Program
Inscape’s new Focus Fabrics program is comprised of 32 patterns with over 550 color options, ranging from grades 1-7 for panels and A-F for upholstery. The Focus Fabric collection includes highlights from Inscape’s current program, plus 7 new fabrics from Victor with new patterns and color options for the lower grades, and 11 patterns from the Designtex West Elm collection, helping fill the demand for more residential and distinct patterns that are unique to the contract furniture industry. Inscape’s award-winning Bench and System products were showcased with new finishes from this collection in creative applications.
BIFMA level 3 certification
Inscape also recently announced that its benching, systems, storage and walls products have achieved BIFMA level 3 certification for multi-attribute sustainability. The company says it has achieved the highest product sustainability level of certification in all four of these product categories. Credits attained under this certification for recycled content, chemical content, FSC certification, GreenGuard certification, etc. can be applied to projects pursuing LEED certification.
