by AF 0618 m3 — June 22, 2009—The eno interactive whiteboard by PolyVision, a Steelcase company, uses wireless Bluetooth technology to tie into a computer. A computer is normally controlled by a mouse. However, with an interactive whiteboard a person can touch the board to control the mouse cursor instead.
As the user moves a finger across the whiteboard, displaying the computer image, the mouse cursor follows. The user simply taps the screen twice with a finger to perform the normal double-click as you would do with a mouse. This is advantageous as the user can control all the computer actions from the front of the class or meeting room. The user can also write or draw on the whiteboard with a finger or the pens provided and save the image to the computer. These images can then be printed or emailed.
The software included with some interactive whiteboards also has built in Optical Character Recognition, which means a person can write on the screen and the computer will recognize the hand writing and turn it into computer text.
The eno interactive whiteboard was demonstrated in the Steelcase Showroom in the Merchandise Mart, Chicago, during the annual NeoCon World’s Trade Fair.
