Neutral Posture adds pressure-relieving memory foam option to seating products

by Shane Henson — December 7, 2012—Neutral Posture Inc., a Texas-based manufacturer of ergonomic seating products and accessories for the office, lab and manufacturing areas, has added TheraGel memory foam as an option on its seating line to make its products even more comfortable.

TheraGel memory foam is a beaded visco-elastic foam that provides an ideal combination of responsive temperature, smart foam and microgel beads for superior support and pressure relief, says Neutral Posture. Its beads are thermoplastic polymer technology that helps in absorbing heat, thus allowing more air flow for cooler comfort.

Initially developed for the aerospace industry, the foam’s fluid-like molding to the shape of the body combined with high-load bearing characteristics makes it an ideal surface for spreading body weight evenly without allowing unnatural alignment of the spine, says Neutral Posture. By reducing pressure on sensitive body points, and providing more support and comfort to the user through its ability to self-adjust to individuals’ contours, TheraGel can aid blood circulation and provide a more healthful seated experience.

TheraGel memory foam is designed to reduce the seated user’s skin temperature.

TheraGel also has high thermal conductivity. Foam normally acts as an insulator, trapping the heat from the body and storing it in the foam. TheraGel memory foam provides cooler, dryer, more comfortable foam that allows the heat and humidity produced by the body to pass quickly through the material and comfortably away from the skin, thus lowering the body’s skin temperature by as much as five degrees, the company says.
