by Brianna Crandall — September 14, 2012—The Dallas-based Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association (PRSM), the authority on retail and multisite facilities management with an international reach, this week unveiled a new brand identity reinforcing its role as the focal point for retail FM professionals and the vendor-related community. PRSM says that the new visuals reflect its diversity of membership, vibrant community and passion for the industry.
According to PRSM Association Board President Paul Walsh, “This launch consummates the evolution of PRSM’s brand in recent years. The organization’s Board of Directors remain resolutely committed to delivering on the association’s long-standing mission: to serve the facilities management professional and lead the industry with resources, solutions networking and knowledge sharing that members need to be successful in today’s challenging business climate. No other group or organization owns this responsibility, and we accept the challenge on behalf of the members.”
PRSM Association, founded in 1995, began out of a need expressed during a conversation among retail FM professionals, who imagined a national association established for the purpose of regularly exchanging ideas and information specific to retail facilities maintenance. To define facilities maintenance as an industry with professional management, much like other careers, the founding band of retailers and vendors understood that for the industry to continue to thrive in a vastly competitive market, an association was needed to help protect each brand’s image and most valuable asset…the stores.
Other industry professionals agreed, and the Professional Retail Store Maintenance Association was born as the first retail store maintenance association dedicated to raising the professionalism of the industry and educating facilities maintenance professionals. Still the host of the largest Retail FM conference and exhibition, PRSM has evolved to provide a wide array of resources critical to the success of FM professionals, including:
- Best Practices white papers, books and forums
- Benchmarking reports
- Interactive, problem-solving toolkits
- Industry-leading magazine and newsletter
- FM-specific educational programs and Webinars
- RFMP industry certification
- Sustainability Resource Center
- Solutions networking events among retailers and vendor partners
“Our new logo and brand concept represents a more dynamic enterprise, where a diversity of membership with unique business models, and professionals with diverse expertise and multiple services, can gather in an environment enriched by experience and a willingness to share,” said Patricia Dameron, PRSM Executive Director. Dameron notes that PRSM’s goal has always been to help unite the retail FM industry and its FM suppliers for a successful future, but today’s organization is “developing new tools to help people work smarter while making use of new strategies at time when we are all being asked to do more with fewer resources.”
