by Shane Henson — March 13, 2013—Students attending schools within the South San Francisco Unified School District (SSFUSD) will soon be learning in new environmentally friendly facilities that took a fraction of the time one would expect them to be built through a contract recently awarded to Project Frog Inc., a developer of technologically advanced component buildings.
Earlier, the SSFUSD selected Project Frog and its build partner, USS Cal Builders, as the solution for the Measure J Modular Replacement Program. More recently, four more campuses were added to the scope of work, all to be delivered via a “lease-leaseback” contract with the District.
Over the next three years, 14 SSFUSD campuses will receive an assortment of one- and two-story classroom, library, multipurpose and science facilities spanning 200,000 square feet from Project Frog. This is the company’s largest contract award to date, it says.
Project Frog provides high-tech component buildings that assemble on-site, giving architects and contractors a fast and cost-effective way to create beautiful and environmentally sustainable buildings. According to the company, the innovative technology and manufacturing capabilities significantly improve the new construction process for its commercial clients in the education, government, retail and healthcare sectors.
HMC Architects, which collaborated with Project Frog on the overall design of its education platform, will serve as the Architect of Record. Several Bay Area architectural firms will contribute to site-specific design and adaptations of the component buildings, says Project Frog.
