by Shane Henson — January 30, 2012—Skire Inc., a global provider of cloud-based solutions for managing capital projects, facilities and real estate, has launched of a new version of its flagship platform, Unifier.
This Web-based software is the foundation for Skire modules that manage cost, scheduling, scope, resources, programs and portfolios, documents and communications, risk, procurement, assets and facilities, real estate, dashboards and alerts, and administration.
According to Skire, in addition to significant enhancements to the cash flow engine, document manager, business process configuration and administration, this release includes Unifier’s most comprehensive capital project portfolio management solution to date. Tightly integrated with the product’s market-leading capital project and program management (CPPM) capabilities, Unifier’s Advanced Portfolio Manager provides planners with a powerful, yet intuitive tool to plan and optimize project portfolios to meet the strategic financial goals of their organization.
At the center of the solution is a simple-to-use, fully interactive worksheet that provides visibility and access into the entire portfolio in one place. It lets portfolio planners easily collaborate with project managers to create multiple project planning scenarios to achieve optimal cash flow.
Key features of the Advanced Portfolio Manager include the ability to:
- Create multiple portfolios: Planners have the ability to create multiple portfolios so that different types of projects can be grouped and managed together, with projects automatically added to the portfolio based on configured project selection logic. With the interactive planning worksheet, planners can further sort, filter and group important project information to fully analyze and optimize each portfolio.
- Manage proposed projects alongside current projects and leverage real-time project data: One of the most powerful features of the Portfolio Manager is the ability to roll up real-time cost and cash flow data from active projects and analyze it side-by-side with forecasts for planned and proposed projects. This allows planners to apply budget targets to both current and planned projects, and analyze cash flow and budget variances.
- Define yearly plans with multiple scenarios: The Portfolio Manager worksheet lets planners and project managers collaborate by creating and analyzing multiple “what if” scenarios of projects and start dates based on budget targets, cash flow forecasting, and real-time project information to find the optimal project mix for the planning period.
