Skire Unifier selected for UC Berkeley capital project and program management

by Shane Henson — April 6, 2012—The University of California, Berkeley (UC Berkeley) recently chose Skire’s Unifier as its new solution for managing capital construction projects across its campus. Skire Inc. is a provider of cloud-based solutions for managing capital projects, facilities and real estate.

Established in 1868, UC Berkeley is the flagship campus of the University of California system and one of the world’s leading research institutions, housing 14 colleges and schools and serving 33,000 students. The Capital Projects Project Management Unit manages the campus’s capital program portfolio—from small renovation and landscape projects, to major capital projects such as new facilities and infrastructure.

UC Berkeley sought to quickly replace their decade-old system with an out-of-the-box solution providing flexibility, advanced reporting, and the ability to integrate seamlessly with their Oracle PeopleSoft financial system. The campus also required a system that can extend beyond capital projects to include managing work orders and real estate functions as part of a facility lifecycle solution for UC Berkeley as the owner-operator.

For these reasons and more, the institution selected Skire’s Unifier. According to Olivier Gachot, executive vice president of worldwide sales at Skire, Unifier will enable UC Berkeley to automate a variety of critical processes, meet their reporting needs, manage funding, and eliminate the data entry redundancies they are currently experiencing.
