by Brianna Crandall — January 6, 2021 — Innovative workplace furnishings manufacturer Teknion Corporation recently announced the launch of Kupp, a series of nesting multiuse chairs, inspired by the classic typology of the café chair. Designed in collaboration with Scagnellato, Bertolini, and Ferrarese, Kupp addresses the need for simple, portable seating in offices, commercial and education spaces where collaboration needs can change at a moment’s notice.
Cam Phung, design manager, Seating at Teknion, remarked:
Kupp provides a hospitality-centric form and palette that seamlessly complements its expected technical performance origins. Kupp offers a level of detail and comfort rarely found in nesting chairs, with armrests that provide support and allow the chairs to nest in a graceful and pleasing way.
Designed for multiuse rooms, the lightly scaled chair works best where furniture needs to be put aside, but not necessarily away in storage, including training rooms, breakout areas, collaborative areas, and adjacent to workstations. Kupp’s clean, light look was designed to fit within modern spaces, while the chair’s finishes echo classic and current educational, hospitality, and corporate color palettes.
A fresh approach to nesting chair design, Kupp’s horizontal nesting capability solves constraints and ensures employee safety, as chairs can be stored with minimal physical effort. The strong, slender frame, flip-up seat and integrated nesting bumper allow the Kupp chair to be easily moved and stowed away without damage.
Offered in 27 frame-shell combinations paired with Luum Textiles, Kupp is available in “countless” finish pairings. The chair comes with an upholstered or plastic seat to further address the needs of any space.
Kupp was recognized in Interior Design’s prestigious Best of Year design awards program, which honors the most significant design work of the year. The chair was selected as Honoree in the Educational Category of the 15th annual awards.
