Teladata, IFMA Foundation, publish sustainability guide for data centers

by Rebecca Walker — February 9, 2011—Northern California technology consulting firm Teladata has authored Turning Data Centers Green, a new guide in the nonprofit IFMA Foundation’s Sustainability “How-to” Guide series of publications.

The guide focuses on implementing energy conservation strategies in what is often viewed as the most difficult and critical area of any company: the data center/server room. Using real world tips and proven methods, it reveals the pitfalls facility managers face when undertaking “greening” initiatives in technology rooms. It highlights the latest energy efficient technology options as well as the best approaches to: planning the project, gaining support from IT, building the case to upper management, and capitalizing on the benefits of an efficient data center. It also covers topics including planning for a data center energy efficiency project; optimizing energy efficiency; measuring efficiency; getting the most for a power utility; and retiring data center assets.

The guide is available on the IFMA Foundation Web site.
