Urban Land Institute forms LessEn to push for less energy consumption

by Rebecca Walker — July 30, 2010—The Urban Land Institute is calling for facilities managers to join its global initiative to reduce energy consumption, called LessEn, which is based around a Web portal providing objective, detailed information and resources.

LessEn aims to create the world’s largest community of individuals focused on reducing energy and one of the key audiences to achieve this are facilities managers.

Key features of LessEn will be a detailed and ever-growing knowledge bank of case studies, policy updates and business cases. There will also be “The Market Place,” a partnership with the Clinton Climate Initiative to provide a vetted energy efficiency supply chain.

Facilities managers will have access to an interactive blogging forum to exchange information and ideas, as well as a powerful Smartphone application to identify buildings that are run well and those that are not.

For more information, see the LessEn Web site.
