by Ann Withanee — June 29, 2012—The growing need for greater connectivity between user and technology is answered by “workware,” a family of Haworth products that “helps users think, see, do, connect.” Haworth’s tech support received a Gold in The Best of NeoCon product competition. The workware group was displayed at the Haworth showroom in The Merchandise Mart, Chicago, during NeoCon 2012.

The new workware group of Haworth products provides for technology-enhanced collaborative spaces. Designed by the Haworth Design Studio and Ryan McClymonds, the products provide monitor placement, user connectivity (power and data options) and user control, and consist of three monitor supports, technology interface and video switching modules. The workware products initially integrate with Planes Tables and Enclose Walls.

Haworth’s workware products are grouped in two categories: “workware connect” and “workware view.”

Haworth’s “workware connect” helps users view content and connect with others using a digital interface. The products provide power as well as data and are a complete collaboration solution. The versatile workware could fit into an informal cafe setting where people come to meet and create content over lunch. It could also work in a conference room where it’s easy to set up video conference calls or even a group study room in a college library. The products are scalable and modular.

The workware connect provides three levels of user connectivity to monitor displays: conventional cables, cables with touch-pad switching, and wireless switching with cable backup. This product enables easy, spontaneous, multi-user access to collaboration technology in wired and wireless facilities. The workware connect product line is fully digital and self-configuring to all monitors, laptops, tablets, and cable types. The product is offered as:

  • Basic power and data with four, six or eight power ports and space for two or four video cables. This supports both VGS and HDMI video cables with no video switching.
  • Simple switching with two power ports and two video cables and glass touch-panel controls the video switching.
  • Wireless switching with wired backup incorporates the power, video cables and touch-panel glass into the switching interface. Devices are connected to monitor displays wirelessly or through the video cables.
  • Wireless switching has optional power and touch-panel glass.

All options provide quad-view, which allows up to four users to share a monitor display.

The second category is “workware view,” which provides monitor support designed to blend in with workspaces. These products are table mounts, wall mounts and monitor arms. The details and functionality addresses design-driven conference, collaboration and private-office applications throughout a facility.

Haworth workware view mounts are available for single or dual monitors and in-table or wall applications that can be sized to various monitor sizes. The table mount monitor support is in a fixed vertical position that mounts seamlessly to Haworth’s Planes and Reside tables and can be applied to a table without damaging the surface. A cover hides the hardware behind the monitor for a very clean look. The wall mount support is designed to mount onto Haworth Enclose Wall surfaces and can be mounted to drywall.

Haworth received three other awards in The Best of NeoCon product competition: Gold for its Planes Training Table; Gold for its ergonomic seating Lively; and Silver for Belong office accessories.
